Dancing Haring Figures

Haring FiltersMore possibilities for coffee filters and liquid watercolor paints, this time as an ode to artist Keith Haring.

PREP: Use an old steam iron to flatten a stack of coffee filters, the biggest size you can find.

1. Students draw a dancing body in pencil on a sheet of copy paper.

2. They trace around just the outside edge with a chisel tipped Sharpie marker.

3. A coffee filter is placed over the drawing and traced again with the same marker.

4. The filter is painted with liquid watercolor paint and allowed to dry on a flat table.
