Harvest Festival Banners

Butcher Paper Murals 650What do you do when you have just a few days to make decorations for a school festival? Good old crayons, a roll of butcher paper, and lots of student elbow grease.

These 20 banners are about 6′ tall, took 2 classes of 35 fourth graders to complete, and do their job pretty well. Painting with tempera paints might produced a little brighter color, but who has room to dry all of these? Not me. So I sketched these out in pencil, and the students traced and colored them in, as group project. I have a new respect for the power of the humble crayon.
